“TRADITIONAL METHODOLOGIES
ARE STILL BETTER
THAN MODERN ONES”
Education
has changed dramatically in recent years. New methodologies are used in our
schools but many people still think that traditional methodologies are better
than modern ones.
Fist of all, most of our teachers studied in a traditional way and so they know
how to cope in that environment. In a traditional system you only use one book
in which you can find “almost everything”. You do not need to spend an immense
sum on school supplies.
On the other hand, new methodologies allow students to learn by themselves.
Although the teacher still represents knowledge, she or he becomes an aid to
her or his pupils. Indeed, they become the main protagonists of their own
learning process.
In my opinion, modern methodologies prepare us for modern life. They give us
resources to solve our daily problems. I am convinced that they help us to be
competent citizens. Would you keep on learning in a traditional way? Would it
be the best option for you?
“AN EMAIL TO A FRIEND
ABOUT MY FIRST YEAR
AT UNIVERSITY”
Dear Mary,
Thank you very much for
your last email. It’s always great to hear from you! I’m so sorry I haven’t
answered before but I’ve been really busy. As you know, I’ve just started a
degree in Infant Education and I can hardly find a moment to take a break.
My experience at
University is much better than I had expected. I’ve been really lucky! I have
met wonderful classmates from the very beginning. In fact, I’m having a great
time this school year. I’m trying to take advantage of each lesson although
sometimes I wish there were more hours in a day!!!
What about you? How are
you getting on with your new job? I’m sure you’ll do your best!
I should get back to my books now if I want to pass my exams. I hope we
can meet soon!
Keep in touch! Missing you so much,
Love you lots,
Delia
